Well I had quite a busy weekend. It seems that this is the month of First Holy Communions! I attended a communion for my husband’s god-daughter on Saturday and a few months back a friend asked me if I could help her out with her son’s Communion that was booked for the very same weekend.

Now don’t get me wrong I still love ballons, but I feel as if people have really been steering away from the basic balloon and crepe paper streamers. I still love crepe paper and I think there is tons to do with balloons, but when someone requests a centerpiece that they want to look different I jump all over it. I try to think “outside fo the box” (as you can see below, literally ‘outside of the box’ )

I was sort of stuck because I am so used to doing decorations for my nieces or my girlfriends who all have little baby girls. So I was out of my comfort zone for boy decorations and for a communion (my first!) So I did what I had to do as any good blogger-I combed the internet and pintrest looking for communion ideas. I came up empty handed. I couldn’t really find anything other than the basic party store decorations. So I had to come up with another idea. I found these boxes at Michaels, and I obviously I love scrap paper, and I went to town. I tried bigger crosses at first but it looked so top heavy and with a collabroation between myself, my husband and of course the customer I ended up deciding on a 12″ cross.

I’m hoping that maybe this will give someone else an idea if they get “stuck” decorating for a communion. This was a little more challenging since the theme is set and all the usual sites I go to had fairly limited inspiration for me. I hope you like them. I enjoyed making them…
