Handmade Halloween Costume

Happy Halloween everyone! I was in a bit of a bind last week and I had a halloween party to go to. My orginal costume idea didn’t work out, so I had to come up with something else, but I was short on time and cash. Then the creative lightbuld went off, ‘I know! I’ll be a flower pot!’. A lot of people asked, “how on earth are you going to pull that off?”, I answered, “Just watch…”

Well I did, and I think it came out absolutely adorable!

  • I went to Lowes and got a HUGE plastic flower pot. I (yes, me!) drilled holes in it and threaded big ribbon to make suspenders.
  • I handmade each of the big purple and turqouis flowers by using this tutorial here.
  • I arranged the handmade flowers and additional silk florals I purchased from Michaels.
  • Then I used both hot glue and duct tape to stuff and secure the flowers in the pot.
  • I hot glued a felt mini vase to a headband and used a mini watering can as a purse for the added sweetness.
  • VIOLA! A cute halloween costume as a flower pot!
  • If you wanted to do a couples costume, your other half could be a gardener!

Hope everyone can stay safe during this halloween…

BABY SHOWER!!!

Hello everyone!

It’s been a LONG TIME! Man things have been pretty crazy. I do have a lot of pictures of things to share with everyone, but that will wait for another day. Today I wanted to share with you these lovely pictures of Danielle’s baby shower. Her mom Louise was so excited to give her a beautiful shower but was SICK OF BALLOONS! So she contacted me and this is how things turned out. So much prettier than basic balloons and so unique people won’t forget them!

Enjoy! I hope this inspires someone out there to put a unique and pretty spin on whatever it is you may be planning. <3

Quick Gift ideas

Hey all!

So this last week or so I haven’t been involved too heavily in any parties or tablescapes, but I wanted to show you all a few fun ideas for all the summer celebrations. In May I was invited to a 30th birthday party, an engagement/ graduation party and a bridal shower. I wanted to share with you guys some fun and creative ways to make an ordinary gift a bit more sassy!

Hope these ideas will inspire someone to be a little more clever than just a bag and some tissue paper!

BBQ Bucket

Last week I posted pictures of one of my best friend’s bridal shower. This week I’m posting pictures of the gift that I gave her. Granted this was for a very close friend of mine so I went a little over the top, PLUS my sister and my mom went in on the gift so I was able to collect things and really fill this baby up!

I have this habit (my husband calls it an addiction) whenever someone close to me gets engaged, or finds out their pregnant, or whatever the event might be, if there is a celebration at some point you can bet your bottom dollar that I am making a basket. I spend months collecting and planning.

The first thing I do it figure out what type of theme I want to do. In this case (like last week’s post stated) Lauren is having a beach theme wedding so the type of wrapping was easy, as for what goes inside– that’s another issue.  After thinking about it and weighing all my options I decided that Lauren has quickly become the hostess of the group, so I figured she will LOVE some backyard BBQ things. Click here for some close-ups of some of the knick knacks I got her…

The bucket itself can be used for drinks, ice or even use it as a planter! All the other things are either for a BBQ or just hosting in general. The wrapping was something I decided right off the bat, I went to Michaels and bought a fishermen’s net and I attached seashells with raffia. As for the card, I wrote oa poem on scrapbook paper and put it inside a bottle and set it up as a message in a bottle! This was so much fun to do! It is unique, special, fun and really sweet! Usually they are quite the hit, I hope you enjoy the pictures and if this inspires anyone let me know how it turns out!

Beachy Bridal Shower

Happy Monday all!

Yesterday we celebrated  one of my closest and dearest friend’s bridal shower. Me, being the crafty and neurotic creature that I am, wanted to help by creating the centerpieces. Lauren is having a beach wedding, so I wanted to bring that feeling into the shower. I’ve been collecting bottles and ideas for months and I was so excited to see it all come together. I had so much fun doing this, and it is always a treat when it’s someone close. The rest of the bridal party and the mother of the bride were amazingly helpful and I was so grateful that they all, pretty much, gave me artistic license. It’s nice when people trust in your judgement. Hopefully these ideas can help make another bride happy… ENJOY!

Month full of Communions

Well I had quite a busy weekend. It seems that this is the month of First Holy Communions! I attended a communion for my husband’s god-daughter on Saturday and a few months back a friend asked me if I could help her out with her son’s Communion that was booked for the very same weekend.

Now don’t get me wrong I still love ballons, but I feel as if people have really been steering away from the basic balloon and crepe paper streamers. I still love crepe paper and I think there is tons to do with balloons, but when someone requests a centerpiece that they want to look different I jump all over it. I try to think “outside fo the box” (as you can see below, literally ‘outside of the box’ ;-) )

I was sort of stuck because I am so used to doing decorations for my nieces or my girlfriends who all have little baby girls. So I was out of my comfort zone for boy decorations and for a communion (my first!) So I did what I had to do as any good blogger-I combed the internet and pintrest looking for communion ideas. I came up empty handed. I couldn’t really find anything other than the basic party store decorations. So I had to come up with another idea. I found these boxes at Michaels, and I obviously I love scrap paper, and I went to town. I tried bigger crosses at first but it looked so top heavy and with a collabroation between myself, my husband and of course the customer I ended up deciding on a 12″ cross.

I’m hoping that maybe this will give someone else an idea if they get “stuck” decorating for a communion. This was a little more challenging since the theme is set and all the usual sites I go to had fairly limited inspiration for me. I hope you like them. I enjoyed making them…
